What happens to information when you use this site. In short: very little, and never for advertising.

Who we are

The Catholic Men’s Fellowship of Hawaii is a lay apostolate of the Diocese of Honolulu. This notice covers cmfhawaii.org and explains what happens to information when you use it.

Questions about anything here can go to [CONTACT EMAIL] or by post to [MAILING ADDRESS].

What we collect right now

Very little. You can read every page of this site without giving us anything and without signing in.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count how many people visit each page. It does not set cookies, does not follow you to other websites, and does not build a profile of you. We see totals, not people.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include your IP address and browser, for security and troubleshooting.

The forms on this site — contact, event registration, and giving — are built but are not yet connected. Nothing you type into them is sent or stored at present. When they are switched on, this notice will be updated first.

The island chapters map

The map on the home page is served by other companies, and loading it tells them your IP address. Map images come from OpenStreetMap, the map software comes from unpkg, and that one component loads a typeface from Google Fonts. We do not control what those services log.

Everything else on the site, including the typeface used throughout, is served from our own domain.

Cookies

The public site sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss. The site manager, which only fellowship volunteers can reach, keeps a single flag in your browser’s session storage so it does not ask you to sign in on every screen. It is cleared when you close the tab.

What will change when the forms go live

Registering for an event will ask for the things needed to keep your place and plan the day: your name, email address, telephone number, island, parish, meal choice, whether you need a ride, and anything you tell us about mobility or diet. We use it to run the gathering and to write to you about it, and for nothing else.

If you tell us cost is a barrier, that is recorded so nobody has to ask you for money at the door. It is visible only to the volunteers who run registration and it never appears publicly.

Giving will be handled by a payment processor. Card numbers go to the processor directly and never reach our servers. We keep a record of the gift, the fund, and your contact details so a receipt can be sent.

Where information is kept, and for how long

The site runs on Vercel and its database is Supabase, both in the United States. Access is limited to the volunteers who run the site.

We keep registration records for as long as they are useful for planning, and giving records for as long as the diocese and the tax authorities require. If you would like your details removed, write to us and we will do it where we are not obliged to keep them.

We do not sell your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade anything you give us, and we do not pass it to anyone for advertising. We share it only with the services described above that are needed to run the site, and where the law requires it.

Photographs

Photographs of gatherings appear on this site. If you are pictured and would rather not be, write to us and we will take the photograph down.

Children

This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes to this notice

If what we do with information changes, we will update this page and change the date at the top before the change takes effect.
